Coop.ai ("Coop") is a Chrome extension that helps you run a job search: it detects companies on the pages you visit, organizes your opportunity pipeline, and brings your own email, calendar, meeting notes, and AI assistant together into one local workspace.

The short version: Coop has no backend server. Your data lives in your browser, on your own device. The only data that ever leaves is the context you send to Anthropic's Claude when you use an AI feature - to generate the answer you asked for.

What Coop stores, and where

All Coop data - saved companies, job postings, contacts, notes, scores, your profile and preferences, and cached email and meeting content - is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage). A small set of preferences syncs between your own signed-in Chrome browsers via Chrome's built-in sync. Coop operates no backend: your pipeline is never uploaded to us, and we cannot see it. Coop collects no analytics and no telemetry.

Google user data (Gmail and Google Calendar)

If you connect Google, Coop requests read-only access to Gmail and Google Calendar, used solely to:

Email and calendar data is cached locally in your browser alongside the matching pipeline entry. It is never stored on a Coop server (none exists), never sold, and never used for advertising. The only time this content leaves your device is when you invoke an AI feature, which sends the relevant excerpt to Anthropic (Claude) to generate the response you requested.

Coop's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can disconnect Google at any time inside Coop, and revoke Coop's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

How Coop's AI works

Coop's intelligence runs through Anthropic's Claude, reached via a small companion program that runs locally on your own machine (installed alongside the Claude desktop app). When you use an AI feature - research, scoring, drafting, chat, or extracting details from a meeting or email - Coop sends the context relevant to that request (for example, a job description to score, or an email excerpt to summarize) to Anthropic to generate the response. That processing is governed by Anthropic's privacy policy and the terms of your own Claude account.

Page detection

Coop's content script reads the page you're viewing to detect company and job-posting information (for example, on LinkedIn or a careers page). Detection is processed locally; nothing about your browsing is transmitted anywhere.

Backups you create

Coop lets you export a backup of your data to a file you choose. That file is a complete copy of your Coop data; once you save it, it lives wherever you put it, outside Coop's control. Store and delete it like any other sensitive file.

Retention and deletion

Your data persists in your browser until you delete it. Removing a saved company removes its cached data; uninstalling the extension removes everything Coop stored in your browser. There is no server-side copy to request or delete - there is no server. (Any backup file you exported is separate; delete it yourself.)

Security

Your data is stored in Chrome's extension storage, sandboxed to Coop by your browser. Any keys you provide (such as a Granola key) are stored the same way; treat them like passwords, and you can clear them inside Coop at any time.

Children

Coop is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
